About Mayaland Hotel & Bungalows

Built in 1923, becoming the world’s first hotel within an archaeological site, the main building is beautifully proportioned and embellished with the trappings of a bygone era, with most rooms facing the temples of Chichen Itza’s classic period and our hacienda inspired corridor granting a breathtaking view of one of the most renown structures: the Mayan Observatory. With beautiful landscapes and the mysticism of Mayan culture next door, you may choose to stay in the main building or our Mayan bungalows located amidst tropical flowering trees, right at the heart of Chichen Itza.

You can’t stay any closer to the Mayan wonders in the Chichén Itzá Archaeological Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, than your rooms in the Lodge at Chichén Itzá. Located in the heart of over one thousand acres of natural and landscaped grounds, our Chichén Itzà resort offers an exclusive private entrance to Chichén Itzá, home to one of the New Seven Wonders of the World, El Castillo. We are happy to arrange private guided tours of the pyramids and temples and horseback tours of the ruins of Old Chichén, something most visitors seldom explore.

The bungalows at the Lodge at Chichén Itzá are hand-built from local materials in designs inspired by traditional Mayan “Casitas”. Highlights of our Chichén Itzà resort include hand-carved mahogany furniture, doors, and room accents, artisan stained-glass windows, and extensive use of local marble and handmade terracotta tiles. All bungalows are nestled around our three swimming pools, and provide both privacy and relaxing views of our manicured gardens and grounds. Each bungalow features furnished, over-large terraces and hammocks, a local art form. You have only to enjoy the tropical breeze and the tranquility of this rich environment.

Three restaurants are available to cater to any appetite, with Mayan cuisine a specialty. Our Lobby Bar offers a welcome respite after a day’s adventures by serving a broad array of libations including tropical cocktails and an extensive selection of tequilas. Sit back and relax while marveling at the performance of the Yucatecan Jaranda dancers, and gaze out at the fabulous views of the nearby Caracol, the Mayan observatory.

You can also experience a classic wedding at Mayaland Hotels & Bungalows, or if you would prefer, a spiritual ceremony presided over by an authentic Mayan priest that will introduce you to the wonders of Mayan ancestral traditions and culture. For your most special day, celebrating your union near one of the many sacred cenotes around the area promises to be an unforgetable, enchanting experience we guarantee you will treasure your whole life.
