Amantaka is a luxurious boutique hotel located in the heart of the UNESCO World Heritage town of Luang Prabang in Laos. Nestled amidst lush gardens, this exquisite property offers a tranquil oasis for discerning travellers seeking a blend of elegance, culture, and relaxation.
Amantaka derives its name from aman (‘peace’) and taka, from Tipitaka, meaning ‘the teaching of the Buddha’ in Theravada scholastic literature, reflecting the serene and tranquil atmosphere that the resort embodies. The resort is situated on a garden estate and boasts 24 suites housed in elegant French colonial buildings, all overlooking a tranquil leafy courtyard.
Upon arriving at Amantaka, guests are greeted by a grand entrance that showcases the hotel’s traditional Laotian architecture and colonial influences. The property itself is a beautifully restored French colonial building, which was formerly a hospital dating back to the 19th century. The meticulous restoration process has preserved the original charm and character of the building, while seamlessly incorporating modern amenities and contemporary design elements.
The hotel features 24 spacious and elegantly appointed suites, each exuding a sense of understated luxury. The suites are tastefully decorated with a harmonious blend of traditional Lao textiles, dark wooden furnishings, and modern comforts. Amantaka offers a range of suite categories, including Pool Suites, Khan Pool Suites, Mekong Suites, and Amantaka Suites. Khan Pool Suites are housed in standalone structures and offer an additional outdoor sala, perfect for al fresco dining or lounging. Mekong Suites provide panoramic views of the Mekong River, while Amantaka Suites are the epitome of opulence, boasting separate living areas, private gardens, and plunge pools.
