About Angsana Velavaru
Angsana Velavaru sits on a private lagoon in the South Nilandhe Atoll, a 40-minute seaplane journey from Velana International Airport, with the resort arranging mandatory round-trip transfers to match each guest’s international flight. Known locally as Turtle Island, the resort is set among turquoise waters with ocean views in every direction, and lies around an hour by speedboat from Whale Shark Point at the southern tip of Ari Atoll, a well-known spot for swimming with whale sharks.
The resort offers two villa categories built around different settings on the island. Beachfront villas, including infinity pool and family pool configurations, sit directly on the sand with private terraces facing the sunrise or sunset, while larger two- and three-bedroom options add secluded pools and Thai salas within the greenery. The signature InOcean villas are built on stilts above the lagoon, with double-storey layouts, rooftop terraces and infinity pools that bring the water to the doorstep, including two-bedroom configurations suited to families travelling together.
Dining is spread across three restaurants and two bars overlooking the water. Azzurro serves Mediterranean-inspired dishes and drinks from a setting perched above the lagoon, Funa focuses on Pan-Asian cuisine drawing on Korean, Thai, Vietnamese and Japanese traditions for lunch and dinner, and Kaani is a beachside restaurant with a sandy floor serving breakfasts and themed dinner buffets. Kuredhi Pool Bar anchors the resort’s social scene by day and shifts into its entertainment hub after dark, with live music and DJ sets.
Angsana Spa occupies eight outdoor pavilions set among the resort’s palms, drawing on Asian wellness traditions and native botanicals for its treatments, alongside a fitness centre and yoga sessions held against the backdrop of sea and sky. Beneath the surface, the resort’s proximity to more than 30 dive sites makes it a base for divers of all levels, with courses and excursions run through its PADI Gold Palm 5-Star Dive Centre, while the Terra Kid’s Club and a dedicated kids’ pool round out the resort’s family-friendly offering.
For couples marrying at Angsana Velavaru, ceremonies take place within the turquoise lagoon setting, with the resort’s wedding team curating flexible experiences that range from intimate ceremonies to sunset celebrations by the sea.
